Care to have uniform corn plants?

Ten days old hybrid white corn Klasika ready for transplanting

Ten days old hybrid white corn Klasika ready for transplanting

We used to plant corn in our demo plot through direct sowing and we always ended up with an uneven stand of the crop. Since this time is rainy season, we tried to sow the seeds in seedling trays using peat moss as medium. At first, I was worried the roots might be damaged and would again result to poor and uneven stand. But applying the same principle that sowing in trays will prevent root damaged in vegetables, we are successful in our attempt to raise corn seeds in seedling trays first. It took only 10 days for the seeds in the tray and then ready to be transplanted. With the good result in white corn, we also tried sowing the seeds of sweet corn Hybrid Grande in trays and yielded the same result. From now on, we will not risk anymore our precious seeds of corn to be sown directly in the field. This way, we are assured of good and quality seedlings with uniform virogr and stand using hybrid varieties and right technology.
